Aitana Tour Environmental Project: Cleaning and Conservation of Natural Sites

As part of the Aitana Tour cycling event, we have launched an environmental project aimed at preserving and improving two iconic natural spots frequently used by cyclists as rest areas: Font de Toni and Font de l’Arbre, located in the municipality of Confrides (Alicante, Spain).

This initiative seeks not only to clean and restore these areas but also to raise awareness among athletes and visitors about the importance of keeping them free of waste, protecting their ecological and scenic value. The project reflects our commitment to sustainable tourism and respect for the natural environment of the Sierra de Aitana.

Project Goals

  • Collect waste (plastics, cans, cigarette butts, etc.) in both areas.
  • Raise awareness among participants about the importance of leaving no trace.
  • Promote ecotourism and responsible sports practices.

With this initiative, Aitana Tour reinforces its commitment to the environment, ensuring these spaces remain enjoyable for future generations.

Font de l’Arbre

Nestled in a wooded area, Font de l’Arbre stands out for its cool, peaceful atmosphere. It is an ideal resting place during cycling routes, with a small spring that nourishes native flora. Like Font de Toni, its conservation is crucial to prevent littering and ensure it remains a natural refuge for wildlife and outdoor sports enthusiasts.

Font de Toni

A popular spot for cyclists and hikers, Font de Toni is a natural spring surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, where riders often stop to hydrate and rest. Its shaded area and traditional stone benches make it a key point along mountain routes. However, the constant flow of visitors can lead to waste accumulation, making cleanup efforts essential to preserve its natural charm.
